Jupiter medical UAV

Jupiter is designed to carry a medium Versapak payload through high gust conditions across the Solent. It was developed as part of the Solent FTZ under the Airbridge project. Charles designed the airframe, structure, control and propulsion systems during his time with SotonUAV.

Jupiter sucessfully demonstrated hover, transition and cruise flight using a patent pending split control/lift system for the hover case, giving maximum response time to counter gusts.

The aircraft is built from an innovative ultra-lightweight sandwitch panel, with 0.15mm glass facesheets on a Nomex core giving high rigidity and low weight. In structural tests, the aircraft demonstrated a +10g capability, necessary to cope with high gust environments.
